The different ammo types in The Division 2 are fairly typical. Players can find incendiary rounds they can use to light enemies on fire, as well as explosive rounds that can be especially helpful against armored foes. However, players will find that after they collect a special ammo type that their character is automatically using that ammo, potentially wasting it when it could be saved for a more powerful enemy later on in the mission.

Can You Change Ammo Types in The Division 2?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem possible to manually change ammo types in The Division 2. The only way to change ammo types is when looting a special ammo type in the game world, and once it’s equipped, there is no way to get rid of it except to expend that ammo or replace it with another special ammo type. This may be disappointing news to some Division 2 players, but on the bright side, there are other ways they can take on tougher enemies.

For example, once players manage to hit the endgame and reach the level 30 cap, they can choose a Specialization. At launch, there are three Specializations in The Division 2, all catering to a different playstyle and with their own special weapon. These special weapons deal enough damage that players won’t need to worry so much about burning through special ammo types in The Division 2.

Perhaps Massive Entertainment will add a way to manually switch ammo types in The Division 2 in a future update, but at launch, there is no way to do so.

The Division 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
