A new novel entitled Tom Clancy’s The Division: New York Collapse is releasing at the same time as The Division. The novel, written by Alex Irvine, is written from the perspective of a woman attempting to unravel how the outbreak began, as well as surviving the pandemic herself. According to the book’s description, it’s designed to be part survival guide and part mystery, with certain ‘artifacts’ within the book’s pages offering clues as to how and why New York fell to the massive outbreak.
Considering that The Division starts after the outbreak has already caused total havoc on the population of New York, this book should be an interesting way to find out more about how it all began. It also follows in the long-standing tradition of spin-off novels being created based off of the many entries to the Tom Clancy game series. Considering that the game series wouldn’t exist without Tom Clancy’s excellent novels, it’s only fitting for the games to have books of their own.

While some have expressed no interest in The Division, many gamers are desperate for the game to be available. While the game will undoubtedly keep gamers busy, the existence of the novel means that gamers can even continue to enjoy the world of The Division when they’re not playing.
The Division will release on March 8, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The novel New York Collapse will release on the same date, in paperback form.
